In 2011, Paul Turcotte suffered from kidney disease. Four years later, the disease became more serious, requiring dialysis and kidney transplantation to be the only solution to life. However, the kidneys of both wife and daughter Paul, Ashley, were incompatible.

“There are times when I don’t know if I can continue or not. I just fight with everything I have,” said Paul Turcotte.

His 20-year-old daughter Ashley was dating Andrew Mayzak 23 years old. “We realized how much we really liked each other and quickly became a couple,” Mayzak shared.

Ashley talks about her father’s illness to her boyfriend. She expressed the suffering of the pain that her father suffered every day. Andrew decided to help the family and said “this is really a game and fully awake” when deciding this.

“I don’t want to see her or her family suffer anymore. If he needs this liver, I’m ready,” Andrew explained.

After about six months of blood, urine, exercise, financial and mental capacity tests, the doctor announced that Andrew’s indicators were compatible with Paul and could donate kidneys.
On October 1, the transplant – kidney transplant took place successfully. Paul’s health improved, he wished he could swim again.

“Andrew’s favor is something we can never afford. Thank you is not enough,” Paul said.

To celebrate the recovery of both of them, “Good morning America” ​​gave the family a free trip to Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa.

“This is really a gift, a sacrifice, something the hero has to do,” Tammy, Mayzak’s mother, said of her son’s gesture.
