ROG Phone 2 specializes in gaming for 22 million

The world’s most powerful smartphone has 12 GB RAM, 120 Hz screen and 3D vapor chamber cooling system.
ROG Phone 2 was launched in July around the world, but initially sold only a short version in the Chinese market (for game publisher Tencent). This is the smartphone that is rated as the most powerful in the world today according to AnTuTu’s rankings until the end of September 2019. It was introduced in Vietnam with many other high-end Asus products such as ZenBook Pro Duo dual-screen laptop or special Asus 30th anniversary edition ZenBook Edition 30.

It features a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen, supports 10-bit HDR, a refresh rate of up to 120hz, and Delta-E color accuracy at an impressive rate of under one. The touch lag on the device is only 49 ms and the entire screen is covered with the latest Gorilla Glass 6. However, Asus smartphones do not own the “rabbit ears” design with the upper and lower edges still quite thick for the loudspeaker system similar to the first generation.

The back of ROG Phone 2 has only a few minor changes. Key details still include the ROG logo that can glow in full color RGB, the dual camera system with the hexagonal convex cluster and the cut lines showing the same “pit” of similar gaming laptops.

As a gaming smartphone, it still has a 48-megapixel camera, wide-angle 26 mm, f / 1.8, laser autofocus and an ultra-wide 11 mm wide-angle camera (other models are mostly 12 or 13 mm), f / 2.4, 13 megapixel resolution.

Asus shows off the new generation 3D vapor chamber cooling system, AeroActive Cooler II, which can reduce surface heat by up to 5 degrees C and operate 4 times quieter than the previous generation.

The 48-pin port on the left is specifically designed to connect external accessories such as air radiators, dedicated gaming controllers, or dual-monitor accessories that support live streaming. Users can also plug in a regular USB Type-C port with support for the latest USB 3.0 standard. It also features up to 4 microphones around the body to eliminate noise during video recording as well as a stereo speaker system with a dedicated amplifier.

The bottom USB port is symmetrically placed with the 3.5mm headphone jack. It supports fast charging of up to 30W, a battery capacity of 6,000 mAh, the highest among high-end smartphones priced over VND 20 million today. In return, the device also weighs up to 240 grams, 9.5 mm thick, significantly more than the Galaxy Note10 + of 196 grams and 7.9 mm respectively.

It has a built-in Armory Crate software that allows you to manage the game as well as customize the settings during the game. Above the right edge of the device is the ultrasonic control buttons that help players can interact with the game through 4 fingers instead of just 2 as usual.

ROG Phone 2 costs VND 21.99 million for the 12 GB RAM, 512 GB memory version. The special edition costs VND 24.99 million with a higher memory of 1 TB, matte black, supports LTE speed of 12 Gbps. The kit comes with a suitcase that costs 19.9 million.
